Havent got out with the camera for a few days so looking throuh my images i found this which i havent posted before, not my best Redpoll but still pretty decent.( cant be bothered cloning the twig out above its head )

Yes the twig at top bit problematic in more ways than one...

In this image cloning out the twig will almost certainly 'improve' it photographically and should be pretty straightforward too.

Sounds like you have no problem with the principle of doing such post-capture work but many believe that even cloning out twigs and things is against the 'rules' (or at least the spirit) of nature photography.

If you haven't seen it already, I started a thread a short while regarding this 'digital debate' in nature photography - something, I should add I am unsure of - and have put up a few images as 'food for thought' as to how far nature photographers should go - take a look if you like:

I dont like playing by the rules. I ended up removing the twig above the head last night and it does improve the composition a bit. I will have a look through the link you sent and may respond in the thread if i feel the need.

You could try just making the twig more out of focus? (Gaussian Blur or whatnot)

Geoff i think think the problem is part of the birds head is a similar colour to the branch and so i dont think blur would work in the instance. Its not one of my best Redpolls so wont bother doing any more editing to it.:shrug:

Still a pretty good capture Mark, but for me the picture works better with the branch in the shot.
