Nice captures, I particularly like the light in the first. The wader in the first two pictures is a Redshank, you'll be doing well to get close to these.

Out of interest, you mention using a Nikkor lens on a Canon 60D, how did you do that?

Brilliant, thanks for the positive ID! I got a lot closer at one point, but the little chap was a distance below me and the angle looked too weird

Nikon lenses can be used on Canon bodies via an adapter (about a tenner), but of course they become manual focus lenses and the aperture needs to be changed on the lens itself.
