My heaviest bit of kit, canon 40D and 100-400L, will redsnapper tripods and ballhead support this combo without movement. My current 3 wayhead moves ever so slightly after adjusting, its sometimes a pain in the bum. My tripod although steady enough is starting to show problems in the legs hence my thoughts on a new one. Also how low can it go?

I've got a 100-400 on a redsnapper ballhead and it does seem to move slightly after adjusting. I'm not sure if this is just me or I'm pushing my luck with this combo. The slightest movement at 400mm is a pain!

I'd be interested to hear other people's experiences.

I'm trying to avoid the movement, looks like I'l looking at the manfrotto ones then

The legs are great mind, so even if you don't go for the head, they are definately worth looking at.

I had a manfrotto 190 pro and 488RC2 ball and my old 100-400 showed a bit of movement - so don't fret too much
