Redsnapper (extra screw)

I just received my Redsnapper tripod with the ball head, and first impressions are great.

It definitely feels and looks much more sturdy than my previous cheap tripod.

There is an extra hollow screw and flat metal piece in a small bag that came with it that I have no idea what they are for.

Does anyone have any idea?

The "screw" is a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter for different heads.
