Redsnapper tripod for a pano head?

There seem to be lots of satisfied Redsnapper owners here, so I thought I might pick your brains, if that's OK :-).

I've been enjoying using my oldish K10D and some manual primes for pano work lately, and I figure that getting a Nodal Ninja 3 would be very helpful in getting reliable results and avoiding parallax problems. No need to go any larger as if I eventually upgrade it will most likely be to a mirrorless camera.

However, obviously a pano head greatly increases leverage on a ball head as well as threatening to overbalance the tripod, and I fear my Hama Traveller Pro, while a remarkably faithful servant for the 30-odd quid it cost me, may not be up to the job. And equally obviously, failures can be very painful and expensive. I would however quite like to mount the NN on a ball head if possible, to make levelling quick and easy.

So I've been looking around on eBay, but also at the Redsnapper site. Would the RSF-284M legs do the job, or should I go for the heavier RSF-324? Equally, would the RSH-61/30 ball head suffice, or should I stump up for the full RSH-12?

I have a near perfect set of legs I'm looking to sell in the near future, but yes a red snapper would be a big upgrade in stability :)

I've got both heads I'm not sure which id recommend more for you, how much does your setup weigh and much off centre weight?

The 12 will be the safer more stable bet

A K10D with a 50mm prime is only about a kilo. The NN3 if I get one is about 500g more. So the overall weight is not huge by any means, but the leverage is a potential issue. So I'm inclined to think I should stump up a bit more for the 12 and get peace of mind...would be interesting to hear from someone who's used one, but maybe it's not that common.
 
i need to order a couple of screws for it, one of them got rounded abit and id feel bad selling it on like that

id lean towards the 12, but the smaller one can take my rb67 ok (2.5kg) , its more off centerness i think

i could see if my dad has a spare plastic collar, you could use that to limit the movement on the 12, so it does'nt flop, kinda like this but on a ball head, to limit its travel. our 12 you can unscrew a screw and remove the arca swiss clamp, while the 61 has a screw.... and locktight on :/

I like the idea of the collar, that could stop the tripod overbalancing if the ball fails. Clever thought. I see you've PM'd me about the legs, so we can take that off-thread. Thanks.
