Many thanks for your welcome and thoughts on the photo Matt :)

Here's the original - do you think this is the better image?

Thanks.

The original doesn't provide any more light to the reflections part of the image so IMO it doesn't help it. Maybe if you had shot down lower it might have improved it by getting more reflection onto the water but I doubt it.
If you go behind that area and into Millenium Square there is an abundant opportunity to get low and catch reflections from the lights/buildings in the water around the metal water-walls. Moving further up the Floating Harbour toward the M Shed and Arnolfini will also give more opportunities for reflections, although if you leave it really late there will be an overall orange tinge to the water.

Many thanks for your comments gramps, really helpful :)

Here are a couple more from the area you mention:

Some great potential in Millenium Square - here's one I like

There's also the Lloyds Building around the back of the square - lots of the buildings and flagstones create their own reflections.

Ohh the Millenium Square is wonderful, the blue floor lights leading to the globe on the right are a nice way to work through the scene
