Register with canon

Hi All,
bought a new canon 550D and I'm pretty sure it's a grey import but still want to register the product, but when registering with the uk section it won't recognise the serial number, so as it's grey import am i still able to register the camera with canon.

I bought the camera from the procamershop.co.uk

Any advice on whether the camera can still be registered would be great as i would like access to the iMage gateway and things.

I would send it back if you're not happy with it.

Get a refund and buy from elsewhere.
 
Thanks for the response. I'm perfectly happy with the camera itself in fact I don't think I could get much happier. I just wanted to register it as some of the stuff you get with registering looked interesting. I don't register products that often, and I have a warranty with the shop so at least I don't have to worry about a warranty not being valid with canon.

Hi Jen

If you have tried to register it online and the site won't allow it, I suspect a quick phone call to Canon will answer your question.

Obviously you're aware of the warrenty being with the shop and not Canon if it is an import, but I'm not sure about access to the iMage gateway etc ??

If you do find out, would be good to update your thread :thumbs:
 
You wont have any guarantee with this camera if it goes wrong.

She has one with the shop, I don't think that's the issue here.
 
canon dont honour grey import warranties so why would they let you register it.. lens yes.. bodies no.

however plenty of people say they ahve had grey imnport cameras fixed under warranty... but for 100 sure the official line is they dont.. i asked canon
