As the good folks on the Irc know I have for the last 2 weeks been trying to release my grip from my 350D.

It was only screwed on about a month ago, but try as i have I can't get it to shift.

Any thoughts of how to get it to come off.

(I've already had the "hit it with a hammer", and blow torch suggestions on IRC) :D

Thanks

Allan

My 350D gip stuck too, but my 30D is fine.

Ive tried everything I could think of that wouldn't damage the camera in anyway. I'm just planning on leaving it on forever

If it were me, I'd try getting a screwdriver into one of the ridges and actually hammering it undone!

The freezer option, however, might be better.

Would it do anything to the camera MK?

This is how I did on a 400D - sounds drastic but if you do it carefully you should just get away with losing a tiny bit of plastic off the ridges

I am very careful not to tighten anything too much, especially filters for that very reason.

Some of you lot must be too heavy handed:D

just remember this "Lefty Loosy Righty Tighty" :D

As for suggestions, try a small amount of wd40 or lubricating oil, only a very small amount can sometimes help.

Other than that try to find a place that sells those cheap JML products, pretty certain I have recently seen them advertising drill bits designed to remove screws with bad heads etc.

I don't think he wants to do that

Have you tried using a small peice of rubber to aid grip (sorry no pun intended :D) of the fixing screw to give you more purchase

Good luck and I hope you manage to remove it

YIPPEE!!!

So what I did was put my nifty fifty lens on, as it is the smallest and lightest that I have, then got a broad flat bladed screw driver and put this in one of the cogs, then gave it a gentle tap with the middle of a pair of pliers.

and jobs a good one.

Thank you all, and even Jimmy Lemon that mentioned this on IRC weeks ago, but I was in too much agony to try it.
