I'm looking at purchasing a remote cord for D200 to enable me to reduce camera shake and be able to do long exposures.

Nikons MC-36 is in excess of £100 but there is an alternative on Amazon for £20. Anyone any experience of the latter - am I going to get what I pay for compared to the Nikon or is the Nikon not value for money ?
 
Nikon accessories are very expensive. A remote release is a fairly simple piece of kit. I suggest that if you buy a non Nikon release go for one from the known accessory suppliers.

Google the name of the maker to see if any problems are thrown up.
 
I bought one for a fiver off eBay. Works perfectly well - the connector is a little stiff to insert into the camera socket, but it does exactly what the Nikon one does. (I have a genuine Nikon MC-30 too...).

I got mine from cmdtaco06 (no connection!) but there are others and the cables are probably all much of a muchness.

Just got a wireless remote/off camera flash from ebay - yongnuo - RF-602 Wireless Remote for Nikon D700 D300s D200 D3 D2

Came with batteries, and after taking off the plastic on the batteries works well.. can af if required... :)
Bought from 'yishumahk' and was delivered quickly (3 days I think).

Not bad a price either 27ukp :)
 
I got a Meike MCDC2 equivalent off ebay - the metal shroud came off in the camera's port. Will stick with OEM if I get another one.
