Remote release for Nikon D5000

Sorry about another help thread from me!

I'm after a remote release for my Nikon D5000. Firstly, which is best, infrared or wired? I'm sure I read somewhere that with the infrared ones you can't auto focus with a half press of the button. Is that correct?

So which would be best, the MC-DC2 Remote or the infrared ML-L3. If I go with the wired one, are the cheap ebay equivalents just as good or is it worth paying extra for the proper Nikon version?

Pretty sure that the D90 remote will work with D5000, mine seems to.

At these prices I wouldn't be buying a Nikon branded remotes as they cost way more.

if you go the wired route an ebay one should be fine, however I had a very cheap i/red one from ebay and it was no good - ended up getting the nikon one which was rreally good and so small you can always have it with you.
