i have a nikon d300 can you advise me what remote shutter release to buy ??

I bought a genuine nikon one and also a £1.99 one from fleabay which is just as good
 
It's funny I've just written about this at length for a project I'm currently working on but really the thing we need to know is what you want to do with it :thumbs: if all you want is basic locking trigger for bulb mode then go and get a nice cheap one :thumbs: no point spending lots on it :thumbs:

But to give and answer we need more info really any suggestions with out the info on what you want to do with it are pointless really

The yongnuo one on ebay (mentioned in my signature) is brill around 30ukp (although you can get it cheaper - prolly).

Works as wireless remote, or off camera flash trigger. Option to buy more receivers for other flash if required.

Says it has 100m range.... haven't tested that...

Came with all required wires and batteries.
 
The Yongnuo RF 603's work really well, about £20 for pair off ebay and you can use them to remotely trigger the camera or trigger an off camera speedlight or use them to trigger studio lights, although you need an additional cable for the studio lights. Use cheep AAA batteries and have a 100m plus range.
 
I tried the wireless ones and found them to be a pain in the arse, though if you want to operate from distance it's the only option. Why Nikon didn't fit an IR port like they do on their cheaper models is beyond me. It's far more convenient.

I use a 7 day shop wired remote timer. It cost about £15 and is excellent in terms of functionality. Particularly if you're into star trails etc.
 
I thought you couldn't trigger the camera with 603's? Can anyone confirm?

im looking for a cordless remote to use for posed family shots so i can be in them:lol: as im the only one in my family who takes pictures with a dslr

I suppose it depends what you're shooting. If you want a low level shot with a remote camera of a go kart scooting around a track then a self timer ain't going to work.
