I need to source a remote shutter for my 5d classic. The local camera store only stocks an infra red one which comes in at 180euros......ugh

Are there cheaper solutions than this?

Have tried a google search, but everything thrown up tends to be 5D mkii and I am not sure if they have the same port

I have a Phottix wireless trigger that I got for about £12 off ebay.

I have a 5D2, the remote socket is a round socket with 3 little pins the same as my 1D3 and the 40D I used to have.

If the 5D classic is the same I'm sure the same remote will work.
 
Have a look at the Yongnuo RF-602 and see if there's an adapter cable for the 5D shutter release port. Does the job very well with my 40D.
