Now I'm thinking of getting a remote switch. Now what are peoples reccomendations with regard a wired one or wireless and genuine or not. It's for a Canon 40d.
 
Wireless, cheap chinese one. I'll let others chime in with the options, I use a RF602 with the trigger cable myself and works a charm. But it's primarily a flash trigger, if you go remote release, you can get things like interval shooting and delays built-in to the gadget.
 
Depends what you want to do.. as per Andy I use both wired (Phottix with timer functions) and wireless (RF-602). Horses for courses. What do you want to use it for?
