Hi you special people

Can someone with intimate knowledge of OS X please tell me how I delete a printer ?

I'm really struggling with getting images to look somewhere close to the screen when using the iMac :(

My aging epson printer (stylus photo 950) used to provide excellent results under windows, but it's really struggling with OS X

When printing in PS CS4 I go through the print option and select the 950....all well and good so far, I set the dialogue box to let photoshop determine colours and we're almost good to go.

This is where the problems start........There is NO facility to get into the epson print preferences to tell the printer not to handle colours or even to set paper / print quality.

Just how on earth are you supposed to get round that?

All this was compounded by the Apple Airport Express wireless doohickey not allowing full communication with the printer and allowing the status monitor to report ink levels etc.

I really hate Epson !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and to make me even madder....their email support seems to be either broken or they just dont want to handle a quiery for an old model :bang:

Hi,

Using Leopard here, go into system preferance and then click on the print & fax icon and you should see your printer listed on the left hand side...click on it so it's highlighted and then click on the -(minus button) to remove it's profile from your Mac.

Michael.

Click Apple :: System Preferences :: Print & Fax

In the left hand box is your list of printers, click on the printer you want to delete and click the "-" underneath.

Nice one

I'd seen the + / - buttons but totally overlooked them as being the way to remove the printer as it looked too easy

Cheers :)

a wee update........

After removing the printer and then reinstalling it without the apple airport express thingy, I have more settings in the printer control panel........WINNER

Apple airport express.....................FAIL

If you now plug the express in and plug the printer into it again then click the + icon it will re-locate the printer via the express. Try that and look for the extra options, you may well find that they are still there !

Tbh, I've not had the greatest sucess with the express..... Never managed to make a windows lappy see the printer and I can only send music to the connected speakers via iTunes ... That means all other sound comes from the mac..... Hardly ideal :(

Have you installed BONJOUR on the Windows computers? That would normally sort it out!

Yup, bonjour was installed on both machines from the disc that came with the air port.

Firmware was upgraded etc.

The airport was configured to use the Ethernet cable from the router too as I wanted to share the printer. I'm sure it's a simple setting somewhere. Networking in my house has never been a sucess even under windows to windows machines :(

I think I need to read up on home networking tbh....... Or bribe a kindly soul to set it up :D it'd be great to pull files off the other machine etc.
Once I manage to get something inplace I'd like a networked external hard drive as a back up.

Have you read my tips on networking with the airport? If you are nearby I would offer you a hand but not sure where 'on the floor' is :)
