Repair advice for Sony RX100 III

Hi everyone. I have a Sony RX100 III, well used but well cared for, which sadly developed a bad lens fault a few years ago. I want to try to get it economically repaired and am not sure where to look.

The fault is as follows: when powered on, the lens judders violently trying to open for about 10 seconds, before extending very slowly. It does the same thing in reverse when closing (juddering once closed for around 10 seconds). It will also no longer shoot even with lens extended, due to an on-screen error instructing to turn off the power. Here is a video of the fault.

I've sought a quote from official repair channels, and was quoted something mad, at least as much as the camera is worth, making it obviously 'beyond economical repair'. I just can't bear the idea of chucking it due to a fault that could be repaired by someone with the know-how and parts. So my question for the community is, what would you do? Is there anyone on this forum who might be able to help me get this camera back up and running for a more reasonable cost than official repair centres, or recommend anyone personally who might be able to help?

Many thanks.

Can't help from personal experience but a Google search reveals mainly Sony authorised companies (have tried contacting any of those directly i.e. not via Sony?)

As for a 3rd party repairer......always caveat emptor, oh and depending on the age of the camera and subject to common parts with later model variants, a/some 3rd party repairers may use salvaged/scavenged parts, hopefully declared usage in their quote.

In good condition how much is a second hand copy, as it may be more economic to just buy another one?

Edit ~ just looked on MPB and they have 8 off ranging from good to like new around £500 to £700
