I don't know if this is the right place to post this and if it is I'm sorry.

I had a Nikon D40 which is now broken. Every time I take a picture, a black spot appears in the bottom right hand corner.

I think it needs a lens clean. Is there anywhere in the Croydon area that I can take it or even an online service?

if the image appears on the images , then i could be dirt on the sensor , if on the other hand , it shows only when you look through the viewfinder , the its prob just dust on the mirror or viewfinder optics

Cheers Steve

Its very likely not broken and it won't need a lens clean.

More than likely some dust on the sensor. Can't see the photo you put to say for sure, but dust is a fact of life with DSLRs.

Buy some swabs and cleaning fluid and give it a clean.

Does the black spot show on the picture in the same place every time?

If so, it is possibly dirt on the sensor.

Fixation are not far from you and they will take a look and clean the sensor for you if you give them a ring.

before trying to swab clean - use a proper 'blower' and holding the camera upside down 'blow' the dust of the sensor - if you can its much better than a wet clean...
