I am looking at replacing my 120GB drive on my 13 inch Aluminium Body Macbook (Not Pro).

Firstly would this drive be suitable?

or can someone recommend a better drive?

Secondly, if I have a time machine backup of the computer, would it be as simple as installing Snow Leopard and then pulling in everything from time machine? Would that then set it back up as it currently is?

Anything else to watch out for when doing this?

Cheers as always

Carl

I've done this before but rather than using a time machine backup and installing Snow Leopard just cloned the whole of the existing drive onto the new one. Worked fine.

edit: And that drive should be fine

Well the advantage of the cloning method is you don't have to reinstall anything. You can also sometimes have problems restoring with time machine from a USB drive - when I tried it the migration assistant didn't recognise the drive and from my research this is a common issue with no workaround that I could find.

I think I used SuperDuper for the cloning - http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html

when I've done similar things I put the new drive into an external enclosure, if possible get one with a firewire connection not only faster, but you can boot from it too. External boxes with firewire are not that easy to find at reasonable prices.
SuperDuper works very well too.
