Evening all,

I am looking for a good replacement LPE6 battery for my 5Dmk2.
I have one original battery, and 4 eBay batteries..

All was good for a while, but now the batteries are pretty much useless, and one fully charged one got me 5 shots today before dying..lol

I recently read a review where someone got 2000+ shots from 1 battery charge... even my authentic Canon one doesnt do anything like that, I am lucky to get more than 30-40 shots.

Can anyone recommend a good replacement battery that will last?

My Genuine one gets about 800 shots between charges, I got some OEM ones of the bay of evils. They come in packaging identical to the genuine article. I get about 500 from them.

However I have noticed if any of them get hot or reasonably cold the lifetime shrinks drastically. In Malta last year in 35deg heat I was only getting about 140 shots per battery.

I'd be suspecting something in your camera is knocking heck out of the batteries. Do you leave the camera switched on in standby ?
 
Tmperature could be a factor actually, thinking about it
The camera bag has been sat in a room at about 22C all day, and then taken straight out into 6degree temperature.

Camera is normally left on standby when in use, but turned off when not.

Do some lenses affect it worse than others? My 17-40L seems to eat through very very fast
 
In all honesty, I'd recommend buying a legitimate Canon battery. It'd last & be a decent investment rather than having to replace them constantly. I have one & it's been well worth it. Best wishes.
 
I have 4 Canon batteries and all have excellent charge.

Unlike the 30D, where I have some eBay ones. The 5D uses a chip that communicates with the camera and it seems the Canon one is just worth it. Yes it is expensive but the eBay ones in this case sound like false economy,
 
7dayshop has excellent batteries for £12 or so. I own loads, and none of them have ever failed me. They last as long as an official battery, almost to the shot.
 
Get about 600 or 700 from the Canon one in my 7D and have a Canon spare as well

Can't see me ever needing more than the two, so didn't mind shelling out on a genuine one

Does sound like your camera could have a fault, that amount of shots from a battery is crazy low
