Replacement /repair lcd /GGS protector

My Canon 550d LCD screen is cracked. In fact it's the GGS screen protector covering the LCD that is cracked. I Suppose it's done its job, but it looks shabby and I'd like to get it fixed. Has anyone come across this before and if so any idea of the cost to have replaced or repaired?

Buy a new one off eBay and take the old one off by heating it with a hair dryer

I wouldn't even heat it...just push it off with a credit card or similar. The camera's actual LCD glass cover is also held in place with a rubber/glue seal; heating could weaken it's bond (I've used glass LCD protectors to replace the OEM camera glass before).
 
Ah ok it looks stuck fast but I'll give the credit card a bash. Cheers chaps
 
Best way to remove a GGS screen protector is to use cotton thread. Start on one corner and use a sawing effect to remove the protector, any residue left use IPA to clean up.
 
and don't bother replacing it- canon's screen already has a protective cover- you'd just be putting a screen protector on a screen protector.

But have you ever tried to source an OEM cover or had to pay for OEM repair? I'm hard on my cameras; and while I don't think they add a lot of protection, they do add some. Plus they're cheap and don't hurt anything...
 
I've managed to smashed several of those GGS protectors and gave up in the end, to date not managed to scratch or mark
a camera screen and yes I am hard on my cameras too
