Replacement to my Sigma 20-40mm

What would be a good Replacement to my Sigma 20-40mm 2.8 as you can't get them new now.

Just the insurence said they would replace both my lenses.

Sorry that should be 20-40 they are also replaceing the 10-20 but i can't find a 20-40 anywhere
 
The Sigma 20-40mm F2.8 is a full frame lens and I don't think there is a direct replacement. However if you are using it on your Canon 400D you could get the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC Macro. I have it and I find it to be a great lens.
 
Now i'm totally lost when i got the 20-40 it was just incase i went to full frame so what lens would be a good replacement please.

If i have to top up what the insurence is offering then i'l do that to get the right lens be it Canon Sigma Tamron etc

If you are looking for a full frame replacement of the 20-40mm F2.8 the closest thing would be the Canon 16-35mm F2.8L, however the cost of that would be significantly more than the original cost of the Sigma Lens.

Why worry about full frame when you have a crop body? It must have been a while ago you bought the Sigma so the need to go FF can't be that great!

Take advantage of the fact you can use some excellent lenses that are designed your crop body and worry about FF if you ever take the plunge. You can always sell the lenses for not much less than the new value if you look after them.
 
Edit - Nikon version of 20-40 no good to a Canon user!

They want to supply a Sigma but cannot find one that matches a 20-40 DG.

That's because there isn't a lens like this anymore!

It's a very unusual (and not terribly useful) focal range.

The closest you'll get is something like a 17-50.

If you want FF compatibility would they give you a 24-70mm f2.8? If not would you be willing to take a prime? You might be able to convince them to get you a Siggy 20, 24 or 28mm f1.8 or maybe even a 50mm f1.4.
