Hi Guys, I've been recommended to buy a replacement tripod collar food for my Nikon telephoto lens so I can slip it into a Benro gimbal head directly without attaching a mounting plate. Any suggestions on where to shop or key search words as I'm drawing a blank here.

Kirk do them, available from Wharehouse Express, here is the Kirk page, use the drop down selection boxes to find your lens, then note the model number and search on WEX LINK

They are not cheap, just as well to go with a Kirk plate and fix it to your existing lens collar LINK

Which lens is it for Sarah ?

It's the 500 f/4, hence I was looking at the most secure attachment possible.

I have a Kirk replacement foot on my 200-400, it also fits my 500 f4, the only problem is that it is a slightly lower profile than the original Nikon part.

I have the neoprene camo cover on the hood of my 500 (to protect it from damage more than any other reason), when the hood is reversed for storage it fouls on the Kirk foot and will not fit properly, so I have reverted to the Nikon foot and fitted a Kirk plate, this allows the hood to be reversed and stored.

The lens plate is fine, it comes complete with sturdy allen bolts and I have never had a problem with it.
 
Sarah, check on the Kirk site but I think it will be the LP-9 that you need HERE, as you can see it has three sturdy bolts to fit the existing foot.

Replacement feet are around £70-80, the plate is £30.
