Replacing my 40D (2nd Body)

Hi folks.

I currently use a Canon 5d Mk2.

However, before that I used a Canon 40D, and have a few lenses (Tamron 17-50 2.8, Sigma 10-20) that I'd like to keep - but cant use on the 5DMk2.

I 'had' been using the 40D as a second body - but recently it's been giving me an Error 99. Not sure why and a google search reveals it could be down to a number of reasons.

I've contacted a Canon service centre with a view to service / repair and await their reply on prices / diagnosis.

My question ..... what might make a suitable replacement ? Looking at something with a 'similar' or better spec. Dont want to pay too much if buying new and happy to look for something decent in the classifieds.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

If you don't need the bells and whistles of later models and the restrictive iso levels aren't a problem then another 40D would be my choice, Anth. The 40D sensor had a lovely tone to it, typical of the era before pixel cramming became a sport.
