Replacing Nikon 70-300 VR ..

Im thinking of replacing my trusty 70-300VR Nikon lens for something a little more powerful ... possibly up to 500mm zoom.

Anyone any recommendations on lens choice ... must have Vibration reduction and very sharp too .. prefer 77mm filter thread or larger
