resize after crop

probably been asked before but how do you know what size to resize a cropped shot and how do you resize it please :bonk::shrug:

It's pretty simple, but would help if you tell us what software you have.
Most people on here will use image size in photoshop, but if you don't have it then there are free ones available.
Saying that, you obviously have crop, so the same software should have a resizer built in.

i have digital photo professional came with camera and Microsoft digital image 2006suite thanks

That's pretty specific. I've never used either of those, maybe edit the thread title to catch somebody's attention?

i think i could work out how to do it but i cant work out how you know what size to make the cropped shot how may pixels by how many pixels?if that make sense:shrug::bonk:

Well if it's for posting here, then just set the longest side to 800px or less. The software works out the shorter one for you.
If it's for prints, set the size you want in cm or inches, and leave the pixels alone.
