Having a small problem here,
Went to print a recent image at jessops and wanted it 7x5.
7x5 = thrid of my image cut off unless i resize :razz:

Finding it hard to find one about resizing for printing,
From what i've watched is this correct?

-Image i wish to resize is opened

Image -> Image sizing -> untick boxes -> 300dpi per/inch -> ok

Image -> Image sizing -> tick boxes -> width 7 inch (as i want 7x5) -> ok

Marquee tool -> Style-Fixed Aspect Ratio -> 7 by 5 -> click and drag dotted square to fit ( Still cuts it short? ) -> Image -> Crop

Image -> Image sizing -> Width 7 -> height auto changes to 5 and dpi stays at 300 -> ok

Finished.

Now my question;

If thats all correct, The image i have i honestly really don't want to crop. Is there away around it?

If the image you are starting with isn't the same aspect ratio of the print you want to make, in this case 7:5, then you are going to have to crop it to get it to fit.

For future it's handy to remember to shoot a little 'looser' when you might want to print images at different aspect ratios.

Yeah I now see that! Rather a pain in the backside tho! As for a 9x6 print inc all of the sky where the cropped verson looks better -.-

And if you use cs5 the auto fill feature is a godsend for creating an extra slice of background. Not something I'd rely on but handy to know its there in an emergency.

If you're not already aware, if you print borderless, even if you have cropped to the correct ratio, some of your image will be cropped again by the printer. :bang: it may be small, but it could be significant depending on the image

I found that out after getting 150 images printed at Jessops. I hadn't seen it mentioned on any Internet Forums, so it came as an unwelcome surprise to me. :eek: Luckily it only affected a few images.

And it's not just Jessops btw, I had the same image printed at every place I could think of in Liverpool, and they all cropped on borderless prints to some degree. Got prints with a border and the image was as I cropped it.

Oh, and the colour variation from each printing place, don't get me started on that. :eek: :lol:
