Yes
my daughter's canon pos..sorry p+s is set to give whacking big shots which are pretty good quality
i set them up for printing to 6x4...but the size of them as she emailed them to me varies in proportion...and none really 6X4
i want to do a bit of cropping but retain or at least generate a 'cropping zone' which will leave me with the 6x4 to set up at 300dpi for printing...as i realise this is quite the setting to use...
i suppose if i save at maximum i will get shots around 2Mb

i use photoshop 2...it was given to me as a present...and i am scottish..go figure...
is there somewhere within the software a 'template' i can use as my cropping tool etc...i am sure its all understandable to those who use it

thanks in advance
geof

I don't have photoshop 2 so I'm not really sure what the interface looks like.

But there will probably be a cropping tool, and if possible, set the ratio/dimensions of the crop tool to:
1800px width
1200px length
300 dpi

Not sure if that answers your question, but it might be of help.
Doing this will crop the photo to exactly 6x4" ready for printing

i will try that straight away...you know sometimes in trying to explain one actually comes up with a bit of an answer
obliged!!

I think in the newer version and maybe the older version you can selection tool and select aspect ratio of 4x6 to give same result.

Does using selection tool give same result? Instead of cropping I always using selection tool and copy and paste into new image.

I just use jpegcrops on the finished jpegs after raw processing. Does lossless cropping - in other words the bit you keep does not get more jpeg compression processing done to it..... and you can run through a whole folder of pictures in next to no time.

thanks again
i finally saw the bit where the settings go...dohhhh
i thought they were going to be hard
i set at 12cm x 16cm and 300dpi to get big final image sizes
does that really make a difference to the printing machines

i am really chuffed as i have loads of my daughters stuff to edit for our album

many thanks
