Just wondering if anybody has experience of this. I'm planning to use my Canon 70-300mm is lens on a 50d crop body with a coupling ring to a reversed 50mm Canon FD f1.8 to try out some macro shots. Before I spend any money on this I was hoping for some info as to wether the IQ will be any good or not. Any other info as to technique would be appreciated as well.
Thanks Andy

You will get something like this:-

Taken with a 50mm reversed onto a 300mm, f16, Bulb mode (open shutter) and 2 quick handheld flashes at 1/8 power.
Just a quick photo to show you some viginetting and shallow DoF. But with good quality lenses you get a lot of detail. Don't hope to hunt flying bugs with the setup as the focus distance is about 40mm.

BTW The picture is taken of the back of a £20 just below and between the K of the bank and the O of the of;)

Not tried this myself but I recall reading somewhere that the front lens should be stopped down for depth of field control rather than the main lens - not sure myself but with digital easier to test and see - vignetting should only occur up to around 150mm and should not be a problem at longer than that
