After looking at the macro thread, i was really impressed with the reverse mounted 18-55mm. Just wondering how do you mount your lens in reverse ? I assume you would need different adaptors if you used a 50mm 1.8 ?

Thanks Chris

A reversing ring is threaded on one side, which screws onto your lens filter thread, and the other side of the ring is a bayonet fitting allowing you to mount the lens onto your camera body.

NOTE: With reversing rings you can't use the autofocus or the aperture controls, so you will be using your lens wide open.

Or you can try to get hold of a cheap (but good) lens designed for film cameras which have the aperture built in.

Cant you stop down, hold the DoF preview button and remove the lens ?

The 8th August 2009 edition of Amateur Photographer showed how to make your own reversing ring using a short length of PVC pipe, some araldite, a body cap and a lens cap and some black cloth!

And that's genuine.
