Reverse ring macro

Hi All

Just bought (From Hong Kong) a reverse ring for my manual focus 50mm f1.8 prime as i would like to have a crack at some macro using this method.

Question is: Is it better to use a zoom or will a prime be OK? Anything else i should know about?

Also please post any images using this method.

50mm f1.8 is ideal.

1. Stop-down metering.
2. Aperture priority or manual.
3. Focus at f1.8 before stopping down to take the shot.
4. Tripod.
5. Plenty of light.
6. Small aperature, about f16.
7. Remote switch or self-timer to fire the shutter.
8. Focus by moving camera or object back and forth.
9. Last but not least.....patience and yet more patience.

It's great fun though.
