Reversing a lens - Question

I'm thinking of reversing a nifty 50 onto a 100mm macro as an experiment:D I'm hoping that the weight of the 50mm will not damage the main lens as they will only be attached via the filter threads. Has anyone tried this:thinking:

Thanks:thumbs:

I've often done it but I never got round to buying rings. I just tape them together with PVC electrical tape. Just don't leave it on for longer than need be as it can leave a sticky residue as it ages.

You can preset the 50mm at say f5.6 by putting it on the camera, pressing the dof preview button and then remove the lens with the button still pressed. Depth of field is very shallow and stopping it down helps a bit. Your subject will only be an inch or less from the rear element on the 50mm and you will need the flash off camera.

Cheers Robert:)
Just bought a connecting ring but still worried that the 100mm can't take the strain of the 50mm hanging off the filter thread. Iguess tape may spread the load better but will be harder to centre etc.
Cheers:thumbs:
