reversing ring

Just bought a sigma 105mm ex macro lens now to get really close if a get a reversing ring to fit the filter thread can I use any 50mm lens on it, sorry if it seems a daft question but macro is new to me?

You could do this, you might also want to consider using extension tubes although the subject will end up very close to the front element.
