Review - Eye Fi 8Gb Pro X2 Wi-Fi Card

Hi,

Not posted in ages but thought I'd give you a quick thought on this bit of kit!

Requirements - The ability to use an SD card to transfer images from your camera to PC/Tablet

Camera - 1D Mk4 - CF with RAW, SD with Small Jpeg (4Mb)

SD Card - Eye Fi Pro X2 8Gb version

Tablet - Asus Transformer 16Gb Wifi

Setup

Install and update all the software, update the SD card (this was all automatic, took 30 mins and a doddle!

Configuration, again, easy! Website shows how to configure the card to "Direct Mode", once I found it, set it, it configured itself.

Tablet - Install Eye Fi software from Android Market

Operation:-

Go outside, switch Eye Fi software on, switch camera on. Tablet sees camera

Take photo

Wait 6-8 seconds

Photo appears on Tablet!

Other than Photoshop on my tablet, I'm now looking for gallery/other photography apps!

Am well impressed with this, I've read horror stories in the past about configuration/operation but with my limited testing, it's great!

I'll be out in anger on the 23rd at Barbon Hill Climb so will give it a thorough bashing there!

This card is similarly easy to use on an iPad using ShutterSnitch. It's a great piece of kit.
