RF 602

I have an RF 602. It works fine as a remote flash trigger but I can't get it to work as a shutter release to take pictures. I followed various youtube vids but it still doesn't work. I have a Canon 1000D. Any ideas?

Do you have the right cable from the receiver unit to your camera?

Yes as far as I know.
The cable fits the receiver and the camera.

This is the same as the equipment I have.

It seems I only have the PC Sync cable and not the shutter release cable.
