I like them both but I'm with you re. the first shot..it's not so restricted and gives the viewer some space. It's far better balanced. It also enhances the rainbow..makes it the 'subject' whereas in the second image the trees dominate.

I agree with you - shame I didn't have the combination of the more dramatic lighting with the position of the rainbow and composition in the first one. It was all changing very quickly, with the rainbow gone in a couple of minutes.

The more I look at the second shot the less I think it 'works'.

No 1 is pretty good. Perhaps you could re-process it slightly - it looks a bit over-exposed?
