Ricoh GXR

Anyone tried the Ricoh GXR with either the A12 28mm or 50mm modules?

I'm still struggling with the weight of my D700 outfit and looking for a smaller outfit which doesn't compromise too much on IQ. If my Fuji X100 had interchangeable lenses then I'd be sorted but, alas, it doesn't.

I know with the GXR there isn't a big selection of modules but this isn't an issue as I prefer to keep my selection of lenses to a minimum these days

Would be perfect but might be a long way away and for the sake of my dodgy neck I need something lighter that's available now

I have been using one for the past year. Decided I wanted something smaller than a DSLR but with the IQ, the 28mm and 50mm modules have pretty much the same sensor as the D90 and X100.

I also got hold of the M mount which very good, not having an AA filter really does make a difference to the sharpness. Let me know if you have any questions, have some pics in the meantime:

Willo - that's great and the images look fab

How do you find the AF in terms of speed and accuracy? Also how is the high ISO compared to a decent DSLR?

The AF speed is adequate but not blisteringly fast. The 28mm is known to be a little faster.

As for high ISO, 1600 is fine, at 3200 you may need to do abit of NR. If you have used a D90 you will know what to expect in this regard.

Cameraworld are doing a twin lens kit with the 28 and 50mm modules which looks very appealing.

Most of my photography is scenics and street pictures so these modules would fit well

You should be fine with the GXR then. Ricoh has a big following amongst street shooters.
