Ive got a shoot coming up, where its going to be a wise idea to rig the camera up to the computer so that the clients i'm shooting for can see more accurately whats been captured as opposed to the screen on the back of the camera itself

Just wandering if I need to get any specialist leads for it, or if it will just run straight off a usb cable from the camera to the laptop. Also is there any particular software that anyone can recommend, or would you stick with your cameras software that comes in the box?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

I use lightroom 3 for shooting tethered.

You can just use the usb cable that came with your camera. You might like to buy one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5M-USB-2-0-Mi...ltDomain_3&hash=item3a63186a2b#ht_2802wt_1089

as a longer version of the cable.

I'm not a fan of the client seeing every single shot - I'd far rather shoot and then go through with them, sometimes clients or art directors can be a bit fussy, the model or subject can fret over their hair or face and get really anxious about how they're looking, which can be detrimental to all the rest of the shots, or start tutting during a lighting test, etcetcetc. Each photographer to their own really.

Yes me too lightroom 3 ,works a treat. But I would use a cf card to back up at the same time

You could use Lightroom 2/3 or Phase One capture 5/6 Pro, I use both and find once set up they do a fine job..;)

If you shoot Nikon download the 30 day free trial of Nikon Camera Control Pro.

Very quick file transfer I like working with it

Thank you all for your input on this. I think a longer lead is most definately going to be worth getting to give a little more freedom for movement. :)
