Right angle viewfinder

I am interested in Bird and Wildlife photography with my Olympus E510 however due to medical reasons I find it difficult to either crouch down or get on the ground to get a good picture so I am wondering about investing in a Right angle viewfinder which would give me assistaance in taking the pictures I feel I am missing out on,I see very little on this forum or magazines imploring this device and wondered what are the advantages or disadvantages of using one and are they not as popular as I would have thought.

One disadvantage I found was that I dropped the eyepiece I had to remove first into a fast flowing river :-(
