As the title say I recently had free use of a Nikon right angle view finder but having looked at the cost of their one (£225 +) I was wondering if anyone has used any of the "less expensive ones" and whether anyone can recommend one for My D300

Check that the cheaper versions display the image the right way up, some are inverted, which would be very annoying!

I got one of the "less expensive ones" ebays ones for my Canon and no problems at all, image right way up, adaptor to fit many viewfinder sizes 1 and 2.5 time magnification, dioptre adjustment, little pouch to keep it in. Just as good as the Canon one and made by Seagull.

Not sure how much but I think about £30

There's a huge difference in price between OEM and third party. Having got the OEM version I'd also argue that there is a difference in quality too, with the OEM being better.

Whether the difference is actually worth it may be another question? The difference between (say) £170 or so for the Canon angle finder C and £30 for the seagull isn't slight.

+1 for the Seagull. I was really surprised how good quality it is for the price. I don't use it very often but very handy to have in the bag for around £30. It comes with some other adapters for different brands of camera i.e Canon, Nikon, Pentax.
