Right Response?

Edit My Images
No
I took some photos of a little boy on Sunday as practise for me & some nice shots for his parents. I got 11 or so that I'm happy with & willing to put my name to.

I've offered to send them on CD and was asked if I could also provide the ones I didn't use. My response was:

I'm afraid I'm not willing to distribute the rest that I didn't use due to the fact that they're not up to a good enough standard and I don't want them seen as examples of my work. Many of them are out of focus and not good enough quality - I'm sure you can understand that the photographs represent me and therefore I don't want poor shots released. Be assured they won't get distributed anywhere or used for anything, they're just not good enough for display!

Is this reasonable? And what do I do if they insist? Or is there a better way to put it? It was done for free with the agreement I'd give them any I thought were any good...

Thanks,

More than reasonable:
No-one gets to see my out-takes either...

any shots which you didnt use arent useable....photographers law..

Only thing I'd add is some mitigation for why images might not be useable - kids move fast, flash didn't fire, that kind of thing.

I'd say that everything you don't consider good enough gets deleted straight away.
