No
lots of cheap ones on Amazon

Can anyone recommend a good one with the odd accessory

FFS. I'm at work and can't remember the model No's of the ones I recently bought. I got the Yangneu (spelling??) which is the equivalent of the Sigma ring I busted. Think it was about £65-70 and every bit as good. I also got an LED one as well for about £24. Dunno the make but it's fine for reasonably lit stuff on the Sigma 105 but the MPE - 65 needs the vastly more powerful Yangneu.

Thanks Brash

I suppose I want it to "lighten up" my close up shots of Dragonflies and similar stuff that I take with my 300mm Nikon + V1 and 105mm micro with the D700

As you know the minimum focusing distance of the 300mm f4 is nowhere near that of a macro lens …. so not sure if one exists that is effective with the 300mm
The small flash that comes with the V1 is not bad - I suppose I can stick something over that to tone it down?

what do you think?

Also need to get into "innate" objects to satisfy some on the forum

I nearly bought an R1C1 but it is silly money

Dunno, I've never tried a ring flash on anything other than on dedicated Macro lenses, the 105 being the biggest so can't comment on how they will fare on a 300mm lump. Trial and error I suppose until you get something that suits your needs.

Personally, I wouldn't give a toss about what other people think about Macro subjects. I didn't even bother commenting on that Thread due to it's ill informed ignorance.

these are supposed to be pretty decent
YONGNUO-YN-14EX
ebay £70
That's the one I have. Comes with various adaptor rings so make sure you have the right size to fit the lens you're gonna use it for.
