Honest feedback before I do any more to my site please...
There's lots wrong with it, but before I go any further with it, I'd like to know your thoughts so I can get it right at this early stage before carrying on

(and no matter how harsh, just not rude please :naughty:)

Hi. First impressions OK. Not sure about the mixture of fonts going on. Contrast between text and bg could be better. Text not scalable, but that's your choice.
I'm not sure you need the 'cherish the dress' etc at the bottom of the main page - that's repeated on the blog. There's a lot of javascript coding going on at the top of the document, and you need to put your keywords in the <title> bit. Some nice photos.
Hope that helps.

There are a few spelling mistakes and grammatical errors but other than that not bad. It server your purpose.

Not sure why you need a visible counter on the site for all to see.

Ahhh the fonts is a very valid point.
I got away from scaling text as you can do it with you middle mouse button.
Will get rid of the blog on the front page, will clean it up lots. Thanks.
I know what you mean about the javascript mess, will get rid later.. thank you.

As for the keywords, I think they are in the right place for a css site but I may be wrong:thinking:

Thank you very much for taking the time

Of course these are my own opinions but I am a web developer so that helps ;).

1. I'm personally not a fan of using a Comic Sans type font, it makes the website look 'cheap'
2. Joomla is a good choice for content management :).
3. There are too many lines on the page, everything should line up but reducing the amount of physical lines will make the site look cleaner. Start with removing the underlining on the titles in the slideshow and also from all links on the page.
4. On all the browsers I checked I was unable to see the bottom of the blue banner at the top of the page.
5. The corners of the RSS logo aren't transparent so white appears in place, switch it for a PNG image and make the white corners transparent.
6. In the latest shoots section when the text doesn't wrap onto the next line the following photo placement goes wrong and indents. Ideally if they are floated DIVs stick a div in between with the css "clear: both;". Will force it onto a new line.
7. The more buttons on the slideshow aren't centered inside their red background.
8. Some of the black borders are doubled up making them 2px thick instead of 1px thick.

That should get you started and is just my opinion so not mandatory ;).

some of the words are not necessarily spelt wrong, just spelt wrong for the purpose of the sentence. Like, an/and, hire/hired etc.

Noted, will get rid of the font later.

Awesome isn't it?

Ahhh why didn't I pick up on that? Agreed, the underlines of the links must go!

Am stuck about what you mean here.. What bottom of blue banner? I can't see a blue banner? (Firefox)

Well spotted, will leave that till last.

Agreed, will be changing that totaly and will keep in mind what you said.

7. The more buttons on the slideshow aren't centered inside their red background.
Not sure I can alter that in teh component but wil have a look into it

8. Some of the black borders are doubled up making them 2px thick instead of 1px thick.

Tiny issue.. will get to work on the rest. Thanks so much for taking the time for me ;)

It's the "grey with a tint of blue" navigation bar at the top with "Home", "Email Me" and "Blog" on it.

I see that too, it's only a pixel out by the looks of it, you just can't see the black border on the bottom of the navigation bar.

Oh right I see.
Actually.... Would you personally have the menu bar there?

The navigation bar there does its purpose it's just a shame there's nothing really to navigate too.

Maybe by having your different heading there, such as About, Portfolio, Blog, etc. It just looks a little unused and makes your site look very small with little content

I think it looks to busy and too messy. The colour is great for a photography site but doesn't gel with the busy-ness.

'IF' I were making that site I think I'd do away with everything below the main image, have it all available from expanding drop down menus off the main menu bar. Expand the main image/slideshow to fill most of the screen and change the slideshow to reflect what you do, i.e. a wedding picture, a rally shot, an aircraft shot... and try to have them compliment each other.

Lose the blog if you are not keeping it up, or at least bury it in a menu somewhere, just because I think a business website needs to show that you are active and interested.

I would have your logo above it for sure, but other than that the placement is fine.

On id #mainmenu in the CSS set "height: 35px;" and that will solve the missing black border...

Thanks guys for all the tips.
Have changed quite a bit now, will have another go with it all later. Then ask for it to be ripped apart again :)

TRVO..... how do I centralise a module position? (i.e the title)

That's starting to look a lot better, I much prefer the red :).

If you take the 'float: right;' off of the #toolbar CSS then the title should centre on it's own.
EDIT: forgot to add the fact you need to add "text-align: center;" to the .inside CSS class...

There are different ways of centralising in CSS, this website explains the main one: http://simplebits.com/notebook/2004/09/08/centering/

Hope that helps...

Right this is the idea I'm going for..... but christ I'm struggling with Joomla templates lol.
Long night ahead

Joomla templates are great but unless you know how to adapt them (and I don't) it's tough to make them fit what you want to do exactly . I have a membership to RocketTheme they have some nice templates but can't just buy one, you buy a years access to the club and can use anything you like after that.

Thanks mate.
I have the template that I love, And am actually almost there now.
Just rearranging lots of content :)
