Just a robin, but had to take the new gear out in the grey light and rain to try it. :)

quite impressed with the ISO and the crop mode on the d800, The 36mp makes it quite a universal camera.

thanks and no, not yet.. :) only been out once to try wildlife though.

I dont think its that slow... its just not super fast as some are. 4fps is quick, 6fps in dx is pretty quick.

I think if i was a pro basketball togger id care, but 4fps is gonna be fine i think.

Its actually nice coming home with a few decent shots rather that 100's of decent shots but also 100's of duplicates too :)

Cracking detail in that can I ask what lens please ?

Nikon 70-200 vr2 with 1.7 tc, so 340mm at f4.8 (wide open) at 1/500th - dx crop mode

Cheers for the comments

Nice image, thanks for posting, very interesting to see actual high iso images of a real subject from the d800, rather than the normal anodyne comparison shots.

I agree and I was there when Ben took this and the light was dismal to say the least all day :(

I am also same sick of seeing comparison high ISO tests? So need more real life images like this Ben to keep us happy LOL!
