Its also the much too big variety ;)

800px on the longest side, ta very much (y)

Really love the feather detail but something doesnt look quite right with its eye, its looks almost as if its just a black hole, and is the only part of the bird that isnt sharp.
Sorry for the negative feedback, jmo & all that. :)

Nice one Bob, almost close enough for the macro thread :D

Good effort Bob. It's looking a bit gawdy and over-saturated mind you. Glo is right about the eye, not that there's much you can do about it, but a nice catchlight in the eye makes all the difference with these bird shots.

Why the big close-up job? Try showing a bit more of the bird and leaving a bit of his environment showing which is far more interesting and will look sharper and less noisy. ;)

He was so close that the DOF blurred his legs a little....hence the cropped version. Here's the full unadulterated shot unprocessed save for resizing. (Sorry about the first one, it's happened before with my Irfanview).

The blurred legs is a problem when you're working that close, but quite acceptable usually, provided you get the head and eye sharp. That's much nicer IMO. :)
