Greetings all

A question if I may for the users of rodents.

I'd like to replace the supplied bar of soap Apple deem fit to supply with the iMac for something a little more comfortable during editing sessions.

My photography is generally crap, so spending time in PS is my only chance of getting something I'm happy with, but the "mighty mouse" is a bit naff if you've got larger hands than your average pygmy.

Suggestions on a replacement rodent are therefore required :D

Preffer a wireless / bluetooth variant which is chunky enough to feel comfy in the hand for long periods.......one without 000's of buttons on would be nice too.

Oh......and the most important consideration

Cheap as possible.....there's a credit crunch you know

Tried that

The local PC worls used to have a massive range all laid out so you could get your hand on them, now they were all in their boxes and you can't get the same feel for them.

Looks a bit odd, but it really comfy and a nice size. Has a fair few buttons, but they don't get in the way tbh.

EDIT - Hmm they seem to have got my expensive since I got mine :( seems they are around £60 now! very well made mind, and good rechargeable battery and charger.
 
I concur with the previous gentlemans opinion of the MX Revolution :)

The shape feels a little strange at first but you quickly get used to it and the buttons are all nicely to hand (or should that be finger?) mine lasted a couple of years before I wore out button 1 and I now uae a VX Laser Revolution [edit] which is just a bit too small for me but still a nice mouse. Oddly enough I think MS mice have the nicest feel but they tend to be too expensive for what they are, not sure if they do Mac versions of the software either.
 
I looked at a Logitech mouse last night......albeit with it still in it's box :(

I was a bit worried by accidental button presses on them tbh.......allay my fears good sirs

Also, the wifi dongle bit on some of them was a bit on the big side....although they also had some that were really small which were on the note book series and that lead to the mouse being on the small side.
 
The VX Revolution dongle sticks out about 2cm from the pc, the MX dongle is about the same, it's never been a problem for me since they plug in at the back. I can't say I've ever had a problem with accidental button presses either except the odd time moving the side scrolling wheel on the MX which magnifies the screen when browsing. The buttons are very well placed.
 
have to admit that the mouse is the worst part of the mac (aside from mrs matty liking it too much herself)

I never find I am pressing the wrong button, it is laid out VERY well imo

3. The scroll wheel (lifts you finger up over the fairly useless find button below it). Downside to the scroll wheel is clicking it doesn't work like a mouse button 3, clicking it changes it from scrolling with some resistance to a free wheeling sort of scroll, which can be quite handy.

The dongle is a fair old size, I would say 3cm, but no longer than the solid bit on other usb leads tbh

Have you considered a Wacom tablet - you could even try a second hand one - I'm still using my old Graphire A5 Wacom tablet with my macbook - you can still get the drivers online from Wacom.

A pen is a much more intuitive tool when working with Photoshop.

just a thought.
 
I have a mighty mouse that I use with my mac but working in IT you get used to just about anything.

My favourites are by Microsoft and unless you're going Bluetooth I'd keep to the wired variety. It may just be my exerience but with the exception of the apple one I've never had much success with wireless rodents.
 
I have a logitech note book mouse. It isn't too small and it works perfectly. The receiver is tiny and i have mine plugged into the right hand USB socket on the Apple keyboard. OK it's not white but it is comfy and works perfectly.

I did have a Logitech V470 bluetooth mouse which was very unreliable.
 
Now that you've got me looking I quite fancy the Microsoft X8 but oooh can I really justify £60 for a mouse??
 
OK it's not wireless, but I use a Microsoft optical mouse with my Mac. very comfortable to use. I can't get on with the Apple mouse at all. Maybe it's the lack of 2 buttons ?
