Just found this A Video painting is a technology the duo developed that allows them to create the illusion that they are painting videos onto walls with electronic paint rollers

I liked it, yeah agree this light painting is pushing the boundaries

I would say that's done with a laptop + a piece of open source software, a projector & a camera connected to the laptop that records the movements of the roller.

A group did something along the same lines but wrote their tags up the sides of buildings using a laser tag. Like this Linky

quite simply to do with the right software. you're simply using the roller as a mouse, hence the really bright colour.
