Here I put a rose infront of some plain white paper, and took about 6 different shots, each from underexposed to overexposed. I then blended them in PhotoMatix.

I noticed that the background came out in various shades of blue, so I picked a shade and using the brush tool filled the background to one solid colour.

Any C&C and edits are as always welcome ... and ... this is my 200th! post!

I would like to see a single shot before the hdr as I think it's been pushed too far.
 
Is it me, but why was HDR needed...and 6 exposures too! It doesn't seem to have added anything that a noraml photo couldn't have achieved.

Exactly. Not even PP. Good photography skills would have allowed you to get a good photo. Its the classic HDR fixes all theory, and well it doesn't. Browse the forum and you should see many roses that didn't require HDR or lots of PP to make them look good. Simple good photography.
 
I actually think the raw shot was much better :)

I also like hillwalkinggirls edit a lot.
