Rough price for Canon lens repair?

Canon Elstree have a a repair menu. Just tell them the Lens, the problem and they'll give you some idea of price. Seems a standard repair is around £120, depending on lens. Excellent service from them the few times I've used them. Contact them direct and they'll give you price
 
Depending on what the lens is, Norfolk Camera Centre are good to deal with and very reasonably priced.

Otherwise, I'd contact Canon @ Elstree
 
You could try The Lens Doctor in Glasgow (who is an ex-Canon tech), I had a mk1 50mm lens cleaned by him late last year (one week total turnaround), cost around £40.

The idiots at Colchester Camera can't even read, I used the form to ask for an approximate quote and got a long email about the inability to fix old lenses and a lack of spares for them (all I wanted was it to be serviced and cleaned).

Thanks all. It's a Canon 15-85. When I turn the camera on and try to focus, the lens tries to focus but looking through the distance window on the lens you can see it is trying to move but can't. This is the same with the lens in manual focus, you can't change the focus.

It frees up after about a minute of trying to focus but it is annoying
 
I've just had this on a 100mm f/2.8 macro. Focus would work intermittently but would just get stuck and you'd then have to turn the focus ring until the lens decided to work again.

Sent off to Fixation and it came in at £165 - that was about £60 for the parts (distance scale window + motor) and £105 for labour and postage. Took just over a week.
 
I hate to say it, but the obvious people to ask are Canon.

Unless it's something totally disastrous the cost probably won't be that bad, and the real plus point is that you'll get a lens back from them that will be absolutely spot on.
 
maybe you're right Mike.P but that's not what the OP was asking was it?
