Rubber hood for Nikon 70-200mm VR I

Thanks. I thought there's on oft used hood for that particular model. I've seen plenty of them, but not close up. If anyone is using that hood, I'd like to know which it is.

Because I often put the camera down, and I've seen the original VR I hood become wobbly (does not snap in properly) - not on mine. And I've experienced the BR I hood coming loose/off. Anyway, I think the hood I was referring to is:

Interesting. Have to say that I've never had an issue with my VR1hood, and that lens is thrown about everywhere, but the rubber in looks an alternative option, although its just extra money to spend imo....

Mine does have a habit of falling off, but I put that down to it being an Ebay special (the original is tucked up safely in the box, unused).

That Mamiya one looks interesting though, the only issue seems to be that it introduces yet another source of vignetting into the equation on a FF body.....

Yes, that is a PITA. Most of the time I've seen them used in a studio where the camera is often stopped down. I guess another option is to carry a bean bag to put the camera down on, but that's more weight to carry to the location.

...or just wrap some gaffer tape round the hood

Well, it finally arrived, certainly fits well and looks promising, haven't had a chance to try the lens with it on but will report back once I do

I got one of the Mamiya hoods a few months back and would certainly recommend it. I use it on a D300s so don't have any vignetting problems even though I often shoot wide open. Somebody asked me about it recently and for a few seconds I wondered what they were on about as it feels like it was made for the lens and I tend to forget it is anything other that the standard hood.
