Back in the Old Days, I'm sorry to admit, I bought the Sigma 17-70 USM Macro f/2.8. It served me well for some time and seemed to be a good copy - properly sharp. But somehow now it has started back focussing big time for no good reason (never dropped or abused - maybe it just got shy of the bag full of Nikkor stuff).
Quandary - I still like to play with macro from time to time but not often enough to justfy the lovely 105mm f/2.8 Nikkor micro. Extension tubes are just too tedious for moving insects etc. Is it really worth paying good money after bad to get the (now) crappy Sigma 'looked at' or will someone convince me to see sense and persuade me otherwise? Any other good ideas / lenses to consider for under £200 to dabble with? Can't bring myself to flog the Sigma on fleabay either - I've got some scruples!
