RX100 mk II arrived

Lovely. It's to go with my RX1. The EVF for the RX1 works on the RX100 which is cool. Crucial for my use is the off camera flash sync is 1/2000th at f/1.8. Like the RX1, as you stop down the flash sync speed gets slower for some reason.

I have yet to figure out the WiFi remote control from my smartphone. That may be an interesting feature. The tilt screen is the same sort as the Olympus OMD.

I need to work put the dial and button settings to get some sense into the controls. The lens control ring seems like a good idea.

Beautifully made though. Solid, dense and with nice clicky controls.

Have you handled/played with the Mark 1 RX100, to compare too buddy?

Thinking of trading down from an X-E1 and 18-55 and MAY have went with the Mark 2 if it was worth the extra over the Mark 1...

I'd guess that this is due to the flash having to output more power for compensate for the smaller aperture - which means a longer flash duration, and so a slower synch speed (as it sounds like the synch is approaching flash duration)

I have. Both are very very similar. The tilt screen on the M2 adds a tiny 2mm bit to the thickness but the camera slides into my jeans pocket quite easily. I've already found the tilt screen v.useful.

I'm using off camera flash so that shouldn't matter as the camera's flash is not activated. It feels like a software config to me which could be overcome.

On another subject, I do find the lack of a minimum shutter speed when in Aperture mode with auto ISO a bit frustrating. I've missed shots where the shutter speed had dropped down too much. On my RX1, the min shutter is 1/80th and the ISO bounces up once the shutter drops below 1/80th.

Overall though, a super little camera.

Cheers fella. Found a used RX100 for less than £300 delivered this afternoon, so it was too much of a gap at the moment. Doubt I'll be annoyed I never went for the Mk2.
